I was born in a city where dreams often seem confined by the height of concrete, but my dream was to get beyond that wall and discover the world. Growing up in Bethlehem, I have always dreamed of studying architecture in the United States and using my art as a form of expression and resilience. This dream seemed beyond my grasp, but through Horizons, I was able to obtain a full scholarship to study architecture at the University of Notre Dame.
From the Summer School to the guidance and help of my track leaders, Horizons Academy offered me invaluable opportunities to develop myself and reach my goal of studying in the United States. My favorite part of Horizons is definitely the community, a network of hardworking and talented individuals each with their unique passions and dreams. Being surrounded by like-minded peers inspired me to work harder, grow, and reach my goals.
Through Horizons, I met Shahd, a current Notre Dame student studying architecture. Like every other Horizons student I met, she was always willing to answer all my questions about Notre Dame and its application process. I am deeply grateful to have mentors and fellow peers who are willing to share their experiences with me, and I eagerly look forward to starting this life-changing experience at Notre Dame with my fellow student Iskandar.
