As I sit here in the bustling city of Jerusalem, surrounded by the ancient walls that have stood for centuries, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable journey that has led me to this moment. My name is Jana Abbassi, and I am proud to call Palestine my home. My curiosity and desire for knowledge have always been my driving forces, despite the difficulties and complexities that define the region we live in.
My academic journey has been greatly influenced by my time at Horizons Academy. It provided me with a supportive environment where I could explore various subjects and discover my passions.
Now, as I get ready for my transition from Jerusalem to St. Margaret's School in Canada, I'm thankful and excited about the journey that has brought me here. The experiences I had at Horizons Academy have laid the foundation for this exciting new chapter. I'm prepared to take on the difficulties and opportunities that lie ahead now that I have the chance to study at St. Margaret's. This opportunity acts as proof of the transformational power of education and the strength of determination. As I embark on my new journey, I'm determined and filled with purpose, knowing the best is yet to come.
The renowned science department at St. Margaret's offers me an incredible chance to study a variety of scientific subjects, including biochemistry. It's amazing to have the chance to interact with professionals from various fields and become a part of a lively community. Access to state-of-the-art resources increases my eagerness to pursue my academic ambitions at this school.
My academic goals weren't the only reason I decided to apply to St. Margaret's; the opportunity to carry on with my studies in a setting that encourages development and exploration influenced my decision greatly as well. The application process seemed daunting yet exhilarating and receiving the acceptance letter felt like an acknowledgment for all of my work and commitment.
As my parents and I explored the idea of me attending a boarding school abroad, their excitement grew, delighted by my brother's transformative experience at one. They were able to directly witness the many advantages of boarding school education through his experience. They truly believe that these kinds of institutions develop independence, confidence, and critical thinking, skills that are essential for negotiating the complexity of adulthood. They also emphasized the importance of being exposed to a variety of cultures and the chance to form lasting connections with classmates from around the world. They view my education at boarding school as a way to further our nation's progress while also enhancing my own personal development. They also think that going to an all-girls school will help me develop my leadership skills and offer a whole new kind of education. They have faith in me to use the information and abilities I've acquired to bring about beneficial changes both inside and outside of our community.
It will undoubtedly be difficult to leave behind the familiar streets of Jerusalem and to be away from my family and friends, but I am excited to take on the challenges and possibilities that lie ahead. I'm always reminded of how important it is to be true to who I am and pursue my interests, no matter where they take me.
As I anticipate my transition to St. Margaret's, I'm grateful for the strong foundation Horizons Academy provided. I have mixed emotions as I say goodbye to my home, but I'm excited for the new adventures that lie ahead.
